Shikkoku is the Japanese word for the jet black of onyx, which suits this enchantingly dark, slow-aged brew and its elegant, mellow profile. Dark shadows contrast against a fine, tea-coloured head, and aromatic hops fill the nose. Two varieties of black malt are combined with six other malts to make a black lager that stays smooth, light and balanced, never cloying.
