Früh Kölsch

Kolsch is a beer style first brewed in Cologne, Germany. It is unusual in being warm fermented with ale yeast and then conditioned cold like a lager, which gives it a crisp, light character. In 1986 the brewers of Koln agreed the Kolsch Konvention, setting out the process to be followed and restricting the name to breweries within 50km of the city, and in 1997 Kolsch gained protected geographical status.
